Were Street
In the heart of Brighton, two new residences stand side by side, united by a shared design palette yet distinguished by their unique expressions. These homes, conceived with a vision of harmonious duality, epitomize a refined balance between softness and strength, femininity and masculinity.
The eastern home embraces softer and more effeminate forms both internally and externally. Its flowing curves and delicate lines create a serene ambiance, inviting a sense of calm, elegance and grace. Contrasting this, the western home focuses on orthogonal precision and incorporates a slightly more masculine and robust aesthetic. With bolder, more angular forms and assertive lines, the western home exudes a commanding presence, embodying strength and structure.
Inside, the interplay of textures takes center stage. Tundra and travertine stone, meticulously crafted in honed, splitface, and curved finishes, provide a striking contrast to the softer venetian plasters and warmer timber joinery. This thoughtful juxtaposition creates a sensory experience, where each material is celebrated for its unique qualities and how it interacts with light and shadow.
A dramatic curved staircase serves as the spine of each home, ascending three stories from the basement to the first floor. This architectural feature not only connects the different levels but also adds a sculptural element, enhancing the overall aesthetic.
The primary bedrooms in both residences are sanctuaries of abundance. Each features dramatic walk-in robes with mirrored clad skylights, creating an illusion of infinite space and light. The primary ensuites, distinct and detail-rich, offer a spacious retreat where luxury and functionality coexist.
Outside, the backyard of each home is an oasis of relaxation and privacy. Each home features a sparkling pool as the focal point, flanked by travertine terraces that extend the indoor living space into the outdoors. Built-in barbecue areas invite alfresco dining and entertaining. Lush hedges encircle the entire area, ensuring that both homes offer an intimate connection to nature while maintaining seclusion.
Together, these two homes in Brighton present a compelling narrative of design duality and quality. They stand as a testament to the power of contrast and the beauty that emerges when different expressions are harmonized through a unified palette. This project is a celebration of architectural diversity and the art of creating spaces that resonate with both individuality and coherence.
