Kindred Torquay

Kindred Torquay is a collection of seven architecturally designed townhomes positioned above the shoreline in Old Torquay. Grounded in the character of Victoria’s Surf Coast, the project draws on the textures and tonal shifts of its setting. Rendered masonry, natural stone and timber detailing reference nearby cliff faces and coastal vegetation.
Each residence is conceived as a vertically integrated home extending from ground to rooftop terrace. Private entries, generous garages and expansive outdoor spaces reinforce a sense of autonomy, while elevated living zones and rooftop decks frame panoramic ocean views stretching from Point Danger to Jan Juc. The architecture is shaped by light and outlook, with interiors that follow the sun from morning to dusk.
Kitchens anchor the homes with oversized islands, integrated Smeg appliances and carefully resolved joinery that balance durability with refinement. Bedrooms are conceived as quiet retreats, many oriented toward the ocean, while bathrooms continue the material language through warm tones, gentle curves and natural light.
Sustainability is embedded at every scale. Each dwelling achieves a minimum seven star energy rating and is fully electric, incorporating double glazing, rainwater harvesting, solar readiness and cross ventilation to support year round comfort.
Within walking distance of beaches, parks and the village centre, Kindred Torquay offers proximity to both coastline and community. It is an architectural response that balances exposure and shelter, a series of homes shaped by light, landscape and daily ritual.
